Accessibilty

Everyone has the right to travel safely in Oak Park’s public spaces - including people with varying physical abilities. Many of the improvements we seek - including improved pedestrian crossings, crossing signals, pedestrian islands, curb bump-outs, and HAWK beacons - make our streets much safer for those who use wheelchairs and walkers, or simply take longer to cross the street.

As Oak Park seeks to become a place where senior citizens can more easily age in place, sidewalk and street improvements that prioritize them and their connection to the amenities they need are critical to making Oak Park a livable, multi-generational community.
